This spring term, a group of Lower Sixth and Fifth Year girls were hosted by BAE Systems for a 'ladies' afternoon tea' at the fabulous venue of Boathouse 4 in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.
It was a great opportunity to meet with BAE’s female ambassadors in a relaxed environment and learn more about career opportunities both at BAE Systems as well as working in the Defence Sector.
The various pathways from Business Administration and Project Management to Engineering, Supply Chain/Commercial and Engineering Design and Draughtsperson were discussed covering the various entry levels from a Degree Apprenticeship straight after A Levels, to graduate roles after university.
They found it fascinating to learn how it is possible to gain a degree alongside earning a salary and building work experience using the apprenticeship route and certainly opened everyone’s eyes to all the exciting opportunities and careers available.
They also gained an insight into the application process and spoke to young women who have recently joined the scheme.
Whether a student is a problem solver, social organiser, hands on learner, or computer whizz it was abundantly clear that BAE is a very supportive employer who is keen to help young people realise their full potential.
We look forward to welcoming BAE to our Careers Convention on Thursday 16 March 2023; as an employer with great work experience programmes we encourage our students to find them and take the opportunity to have a chat.
