Pastoral
At Churcher’s we are fully committed to providing the highest standards of pastoral care to ensure your child’s wellbeing.
Children flourish when they feel valued in a secure, welcoming and friendly environment - enabling them to grow personally, socially, spiritually and intellectually.
We believe that happy children learn the most effectively and as such, excellent pastoral care underpins all we do.
Our Commitment to Your Child
The day-to-day pastoral care at Churcher’s is in the hands of our caring and nurturing class teachers who are supported by senior teaching staff. Alongside this, our close-knit community encourages open, two-way communication with parents, and we work closely with families to support each child.
A Community Spirit
During teaching time, our PSHE curriculum supports our pastoral ethos. Experienced staff lead discussions on the ways children can support each other with positive interactions, and older pupils are taught skills to help support their younger counterparts and be positive role models.
The House system also fosters great community spirit, allowing friendships to form between year groups.
Supporting Your Child
When children need a little extra support, we offer pastoral drop-in times with our Deputy Head and school dog, Noodle, who the children find to be a terrific calming influence.
We also have specialist support available including a school counsellor, a Play Therapist and an ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant)
