In celebration of UN International Women’s Day, an event was held to emphasise the importance of gender balance in Chemistry at all levels.

Emma Demetriades, a partner at Carpmaels & Ransford, was our guest speaker and shared many useful insights into the significance of her Chemistry degree her career.

The breakfast, supported by the school’s Catering Team, aimed to promote careers in chemistry and inspire future generations.

The Global Women's Breakfast, organised by the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC), is part of a series of events aimed at establishing a network to address gender equality barriers in science. Over 1500 events have been held globally, highlighting diversity in science and encouraging collaboration across various sectors. This year's theme, "Catalysing Diversity in Science," underscores the importance of inclusivity and networking among scientists from different backgrounds.

The event not only celebrates the achievements of women in science but also serves as a platform to inspire young individuals to pursue careers in scientific fields. With a focus on empowering women in chemistry, the Global Women's Breakfast has become an annual event that brings together thousands of women chemists worldwide to expand their professional networks and raise awareness about the challenges faced by women scientists.

Through events like these, the scientific community continues to advocate for gender equality and diversity in all scientific disciplines, fostering a supportive environment for women to thrive and excel in their careers.
