Adventure
The adventurous activities programme enables students to venture outside the traditional learning environment and get stuck into and learn about the great outdoors, both in the UK and overseas. We actively encourage students to broaden their horizons and develop skills for life by taking risks outside of their comfort zone. Our aim is for pupils to develop into well-rounded, self-confident, and socially aware individuals.
The Adventurous Activities Journey
Our idyllic location in the South Downs National Park, just a stone's throw from the south coast, offers pupils the chance to immerse themselves in the great outdoors from the start. Students are given progressively larger opportunities and expeditions as they move further up the school, using the ever-growing experiences gained. We travel across the UK, including the Brecon Beacons, to Dartmoor, the Lake District and the Highlands of Scotland - and beyond, to Norway, Peru and Bolivia, Romania, eSwatini and more - to offer new challenges in inspiring environments. Alongside regular off-site trips, all facilities at Churcher’s are also utilised, including our indoor 25-metre swimming pool, climbing wall and extensive green spaces.
The Adventure Team
The programme is headed up by our dedicated Head of Adventure and a team of professional and experienced staff with relevant and appropriate qualifications. This also includes external professionals and parent volunteers, drawing on a large pool of experience and connections, which enables us to offer such an expansive range of activities.
