Churcher’s College Sixth Form students Charlie Drummond and Matt Bloomer have been selected for Hampshire U18 rugby squad.

Ben Seal, First XV Coach said: “Charlie has been a real asset for the senior squad at Churcher’s this year. As our Captain he sets the tone both on and off the pitch and his attitude and playing ability have resulted in him setting a really positive example for us this season. I am pleased for him but not surprised that this has been recognised at County level and I’m sure that he will continue to learn and develop both his game and his leadership as he gets more experience of the game at higher levels. Congratulations Charlie!”

Louisa Taylor, Churcher’s College Director of sport added:

Matt has represented Churcher’s College since joining the Junior School and is now First XV Vice Captain.  We are thrilled that he has now been selected to take his rugby game to the next level as he is talented and passionate and will be an asset on the pitch.   Team Churcher’s will certainly be cheering him on– go Matt!

Matt has played rugby since being an U6 and has previously been selected for Hampshire at U16 where he was awarded the Hampshire U16 Brian Short Award. He has been selected into the London Irish Academy for U16 Silver Squad and U18 Gold Squad representing London Irish Gold Academy in fixtures against Harlequins and Saracens. When playing for Havant RFC Colts Matt is 1st XV Captain.

Charlie played his first Hampshire match earlier this month and is currently waiting to hear whether he has been selected for the Lambs. He has been playing rugby since he was four years old in Singapore, where he played for Centaurs RFC, the same club as Marcus Smith.   He has been captain of school teams and Havant RFC since age 11, and also played for Hampshire U16s.
