UK Space Design Competition

Last term, ten Sixth Form students travelled to London to compete in the UK Space Design regional heat. Their goal was to impress a panel of judges, including international business investors, local patent lawyers, and Imperial College alumni, all working within the industry.

In collaboration with The Westminster and Tiffin schools, their task was to design a manufacturing venture on Mars, making use of local resources while addressing the immense challenges of building and living in space. Their innovative ideas, including energy-efficient transport and radiation-shielded living quarters, greatly impressed the judges. As a result, they were awarded the contract in this virtual competition.

The senior team will now compete at Imperial College in the National Finals this March, with the chance for some students to earn a place on the UK International team and compete in Florida this summer.
