"My experience of The Play of The Silver Sword was out of this world!
"I know that everyone in the cast had such a lovely time choreographing, rehearsing and performing this meaningful show. Zoё Godbert, who played the role of Jan, said the following about her time working on the play: “It was stressful but very rewarding and I loved playing a boy character as it allowed me to expand my acting abilities.” Lucy Cullis (Ruth) and Elianne Swinden (Bronia) also both agree that “We loved retelling the story and stepping into the shoes of other characters!”
Barney Struth, who played multiple roles, said that “It has been an experience to remember and it was really fun to act with this cast in my first play at Churcher’s”.
"At some points, we didn’t think we would be able to finish in time, but with Mrs Northey’s great leadership we managed to pull it all together into a phenomenal play! Peter Zvoznikov said that one of his favourite parts of The Play of The Silver Sword was “the choreography of the stools in the show”. Mo Knight (Farmer) described the play as “Exciting and the community was really wholesome; I can’t wait to carry on acting in the senior productions to come!”. We even all had the privilege of meeting Helen Serraillier – the daughter of the Author, Ian Serraillier – who came backstage after our second show and told us all that “My father would have loved this!” It really was wonderful that she came to watch, all these years after her father first wrote the book.
"I loved playing my character and just being a part of this amazing show – so a very big 'thank you' to Mrs Northey, Miss Carty, Mrs Naym, the Tech Team, The Backstage Crew and, of course, all the cast."
Meg Sayer (Captain Greenwood)
