Our team of six 2nd Year pupils visited the Great Ballard School near Chichester to take part in the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) Challenge Competition.

Their task was to design and build a sustainable use for a battery device, used either in outdoor activities, to support disabilities/medical conditions or a toy for Early Years learners.

They designed a pill box that would buzz and light up when users needed to take their medication. With solar-cell support, the battery can last all day, be transportable in a pocket and possibly even vibrate to remind them. The team then presented their ideas to the judge who was very complimentary afterwards, with both the idea, quality of answers and staying on budget!

As runners-up, we will wait and see if the team qualifies for the National Finals.
