In 2013 Churcher’s College responded to a request for help from Friends of the Heath to create a 60-meter long path along Petersfield Heath, on a particularly boggy stretch near West Sussex Car Park.

One thing has led to another and this year for the sixth year running Churcher’s College pupils, in conjunction with volunteers from Friends of the Heath, have added to the path making up a total of 280 meters.

Over the six years, 79 cubic meters of soil has been toiled. The main reason has been to protect the protruding roots of the magnificent trees, but also to give the public a sturdy ground to walk on during the rainy winter season.

The path was, under the watchful eyes of 32 3rd year pupils, opened on Friday 22 June 2018 by Town Mayor, Councillor Hilary Ayer.

Churcher’s College hope to come back next year to finish off the last 60 meters.
