The wide-ranging extra-curricular programme at Churcher’s College is an essential part of school life. It has been designed to allow every student to find their niche to discover new talents and to broaden their interests.
The school offers a huge array of clubs, including Brain Games, Indoor Climbing, Gaming Club, Backstage Club, STEAM Robotics, Science Club, Greenpower Club (electric cars), Digital Photography, Mandarin and Martial Arts to name a few.
The Senior School Library also offers a hotly contested chess ladder as well as table-top games.
Any student wishing to start a club or take up a new interest is always encouraged.
Churcher’s has a thriving Performing Arts Department, with music groups and ensembles; everything from the Brass Ensemble to the Jazz Club, from Barbershop to the full Orchestra. Improvisation, dance club & musical theatre, Shakespeare in the Park, and rehearsals for school productions run on a weekly basis.
Our Expeditions and Adventure faculty is second-to-none, with pupils from age 14 upwards able to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme; Second Year pupils are introduced to OSCA (Outdoor Survival, Challenge and Adventure), and for the Third to Sixth Form pupils there is the chance to take part in the First Challenge (short haul) and World Challenge (long haul) expeditions.
Such character-building experiences give our students such life-skills as leadership & teamwork, problem-solving & creative critical thinking, communication, sociability & loyalty, commitment & integrity and competence & self-assurance.
