Operation Night Owl

On 12-13 June 55 cadets from Churcher’s College CCF deployed to Longmoor N1A training area on Exercise Night Owl.

The exercise is designed to bring the cadets up to the required standard to pass their Basic syllabus and move into the Fourth Year. Supported by their Sixth Form non-commissioned officers, the cadets established a defended harbour area, detected enemy intelligence, and conducted a reconnaissance patrol to observe local enemy militias.

The cadets were able to observe a failed arms deal between two groups that descended into a sudden firefight without being detected, and then returned to their harbour area to get a few hours sleep before the morning’s lessons on sentry duties. The exercise was a huge success and the cadets greatly enjoyed the experience.
