On Sunday 2 September pupils attended 'Tea, Cake and Cabaret' - a spectacular afternoon of entertainment and an industry Q&A, held at Churcher's College and all in aid of the charity Home-Start Butser. The event followed the same format as our very successful inaugural ‘Career Bite - Musical Theatre’ event in March.

Four fabulous performers from the West End’s awarding winning ‘Phoenix Artist Club ’performed in a compered cabaret show spanning the best of Musical Theatre - with some excursions into light opera. Accompanied by West End Musical Director, Aaron Pryce-Lewis (Royal College of Music), Cat Giles (Aberdeen University, Performing Arts) and Ewa Korda (Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama) performed in front of an audience of over a hundred Musical Theatre and light opera fans.

Produced by Jo Corrigan (Director, Writer, Performer, BBC, Stage Directors UK), there was also an opportunity after the show to take part in a Q&A session with the entire team whose experience included composing, Musical Theatre, opera, hair & make-up, stage management, circus skills and much more.

The show itself was world-class: the opportunity to hear the stories of success and disappointment, the performers' journeys into Musical Theatre, Musical Direction, Opera and the Arts in general – absolutely fascinating.

Thank you so much to the wonderful performers and Home-Start Butser for making the event happen.
