On Wednesday 22 February we were joined by three inspirational members of the Lockheed Martin Application Development Team.
Their talk provided some excellent insight into the company’s areas of business with a focus on their projects in the UK Space industry.
Fifty-four years ago, Neil Armstrong declared his first step on the Moon's surface “…a giant leap for mankind.” As more explorers head to space, Lockheed Martin is taking that “giant leap” one step further – developing technology that establishes space as not just a place to go to – but as a place to do business.
Their exciting message was that in the near future, space will be home to a new economy; driven by the search for life-sustaining resources such as water and building materials, space will become a place to do business.
From 'untethering' humans from Earth, to developing faster ways to manoeuvre, to finding methods to store life-sustaining consumables and fuel, Lockheed Martin is using its expertise to lead humanity beyond space exploration, to space development - and the establishment of a powerful economy beyond Earth.
Abby Watton, a software developer, also provided information on the career opportunities at Lockheed Martin.
The Q&A session and merchandise giveaway finished the session and it all made for a huge hit with the Churcher’s audience!
Huge thanks to the Lockheed Martin team for coming to see us.
