On Wednesday 7th March, Chris Collins from Hampshire County Council’s Road Safety Team came into Ramshill to give the sixth formers an opportunity to try on a pair of ‘impairment goggles’. The goggles are designed to replicate a person’s vision if they had drink or drugs in their system.

The 'walk the line' element of the Field Impairment Test (FIT) that Police conduct at the roadside if a driver is suspected to have been driving under the influence is then reproduced using a hazard line and the goggles.

Students were also reminded of the key messages from the Safe Drive Stay Alive presentation which all students attend in the November of their Lower Sixth, as well as being informed how long alcohol can stay in the body, warning against driving the next morning after a night out.

The students and staff participated enthusiastically and we look forward to welcoming Chris again in the future.
