Fourteen teams of Fourth Years were scattered over the Isle of Purbeck in Dorset for their Silver Practice at the end of June.
They hiked over 16km for two days in stifling heat, carrying full rucksacks and tackling the Purbeck Hills as well as camping each night.
The teams were treated to sea views as well as being able to cool their feet in the sea at the end of the expedition. This was followed up just before starting their Fifth Year, as they undertook their Final Assessed Expedition in Exmoor.
For the first time, one of the teams included a student in a wheelchair and this team completed the Tarka Trail between Braunton and Meeth. The hiking teams navigated across the moor over three days, including climbing Dunkery Beacon and were fortunate with the weather but challenged by relentless hills.
