On Saturday 2 May, local children’s eco-choir, SOS From the Kids, were seen on ITV’s hit show ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ singing their own song about climate change. The show was recorded in January and the choir featured children aged between 4 and 16 years, including two Churcher’s College students; Ari and Ben. The BGT judges loved the performance, which got a standing ovation and will now go on to the next stage of the competition.
“I auditioned to join the choir and was really happy to be successful because I love singing and I also feel strongly about climate change and working to stop it,” explains Ari. “Our song ‘SOS From The Kids’ highlights such an important message, climate change is a major threat to our planet and we all need to stand together and fight this.”
On singing success on Saturday, Ari continues: “I was very relieved we got through, it was a long day but really worth it, and we met Ant and Dec!”
The BGT song “SOS From The Kids” was written by the groups lead singer, 12 year old Sim Macaulay and his mum Dorry, all proceeds from the song go to environmental causes and to help wildlife.
The group has a new single out now called “Stand As One” from which all proceeds go the NHS Charities Together and Masks for NHS Heroes. The song was written, recorded and filmed during lock down. Find it on Spotify #ThankyouNHS
