Charity Table Tennis Tournament

Mr Blackman recently organised a charity Table Tennis tournament to raise funds for UWS Mude School in Nepal and Sport Relief. Here, he takes up the story:

"I came up with the idea of the Table Tennis Tournament when I found some medals with ‘Table Tennis Schools Challenge’ on them; then went to Mrs Y-P with the idea of doing the tournament for Sport Relief and UWS. We advertised the tournament in assemblies and by email to parents, saying that any child from Year 3-6 could enter if they brought a £1 entry fee."

"I then had help from two pupils, Frank and Felix, to construct a fixture list and tournament structure - we separated the children into a Year 3-4 tournament and a Year 5-6 tournament. We then put all of the children’s names that entered from Year 3-4 in one hat, and all those from Year 5-6 in a different hat, and drew the names out to see who their opponents would be in the first round."

"The two tournaments then took place between the 9-12 March, with the Year 3-4 being on Monday and the Year 5-6 being the rest of the week. Matches took place every Break and Lunchtime, with winners finally being announced."

Well done to Mr Blackman and all the pupils who took part!
