When the pupils of Churcher’s College Junior School & Nursery read about the fundraising campaign to get local boy Thomas a special needs trike, they were very keen to help another child have fun with his sister. The pupils decided to raise money by holding a non-uniform day where everyone made a donation to wear home clothes to school. Every penny raised has been donated to Thomas’s trike fundraising campaign.
Thank you so much for your donation. It is really appreciated,” said Gemma, Thomas’s mum. “Thank you to all the staff, pupils and parents for this amazing donation! We are completely overwhelmed!
Thomas is eight years old who was born with Strep B Meningitis. This has left with him with brain damage including cerebral palsy affecting all four limbs, epilepsy, learning difficulties and currently without speech and language.
Thomas was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to test ride a Tomcat special needs trike. Unfortunately, special needs trikes are not easily affordable and in order for Thomas to get his wish of his very own trike, his family started fundraising.
Their gofundme page says:
“These aren't just your average bikes from retailers, they are specially adapted for each individual and therefore incur a cost of which we cannot afford, we are therefore reaching out to family, friends and charities to raise the funding so we can give this to Thomas.”
