Little Listeners Storytime Fun!

Recently, Churcher’s Nursery teamed up with local bookshop, Waterstones, for the inaugural ‘Little Listeners’ event.  This very special story time was designed to appeal to pre-school children and their parents, highlighting the joy and importance of reading in every child’s development. 

The session was hosted in the ‘book nook’ area of the Petersfield store by Head of Churcher’s Nursery, Mrs Knowles who engaged the little listeners with a raft of wonderful stories bringing them to life with actions, songs and funny voices. There were puppets and lots of recommended books for children to pick up and enjoy themselves, as well as stickers and smiles all round. 

The experience aimed to share not only the importance of reading as a skill but also the joy to be found in books and stories as well as all the magical conversations with little ones that accompany this activity. The interactive and relaxed style of the event encouraged parents’ questions which Mrs Knowles was able to answer with her teaching experience, tips and valuable insights on how to best support a child's reading journey.

The popular event was a hit with the parents and toddlers, summarised by one mum; “It was wonderful to see my little one engaged in the stories and fun. The tips were incredibly helpful and Mrs Knowles' understanding and knowledge was amazing. We are looking forward to coming to the next event.”
