Our Second Years had a great day out deepening their historical knowledge of the past.
At Arundel Castle they saw the imposing defensive ramparts, the Medieval motte and bailey, and consolidated their First Year learning about land and power.
They also saw the Roman Catholic Chapel of the Dukes of Norfolk and reflected on the Reformation period. They then had a taste of the Industrial revolution, by having a train ride along a narrow-gauge railway, attending two workshops on chalk and lime, handling artefacts, and seeing an amazing electrical display.
Amberley was staffed with amazingly enthusiastic volunteers who had a real passion for the mechanical and industrial relics. Overall, it was a fantastic trip that brought history to life.
