Jasper Browne, a Sixth Form student at Churcher’s College, has been selected to represent the CCF on a new RAFAC Commandant's Advisory Panel being set up.

The aim of this advisory panel is to advise the Commandant of the RAF Air Cadets and the RAFAC Senior Leadership Team on issues affecting cadets to help inform the development of RAFAC policy and strategy. The panel is intended to empower cadets, equipping them with a greater voice and opportunity to shape, influence and effect change within RAFAC.

Simon Williams, Headmaster at Churcher’s College, said: “We are delighted to have a member of the Churcher’s CCF selected to represent the views of cadets nationwide in this new initiative. It is an honour and a responsibility for Jasper and one that I am confident he will fulfil brilliantly.”

The panel consists of two cadets from each ATC Region and three cadets from the CCF. The other two CCF cadets selected for the panel are from Edinburgh Academy and Hereford Cathedral School.

The role of Jasper and the others on the panel will be to provide the Commandant and the Senior Leadership Team of the RAFAC with an insight into the lived experience of cadets, to offer their opinion and to engage actively on a range of subjects affecting RAFAC and the delivery of the Air Cadet experience.

The panel will be chaired by the Commandant of the Air Cadets, Air Commodore Tony Keeling, and the initial proposal is that it will meet at least quarterly on Teams, with the potential for an annual conference at which some more challenging issues can be examined through workshop.

The suggested initial work proposals are set to cover:

  • RAFAC Health Check to understand the impact of COVID-19 on the organisation.
  • Diversity & Inclusion Strategy, to involve representation from RAFAC ASPIRE
  • RAFAC Net Zero Strategy, to include as a minimum energy consumption, travel, and the reduce/reuse/recycle material.
