In what appears to be a first for Churcher’s College, pupil Adam Childs has become a First Sea Lord cadet with the Sea Cadets, one of only six under 18s to do so.

First Sea Lord cadets play a crucial role in shaping the future of the Corps. It's a chance to have their voices heard, and to inspire others to follow in their footsteps.

Adam, who represents the ‘Southern Area’ of the UK, met in Portsmouth with the other five cadets in an event hosted by the First Sea Lord, Admiral Sir Philip Jones KCB ADC. They were awarded certificates and badges on board HMS Victory, the flag ship of the First Sea Lord, and later enjoyed a harbour tour of Portsmouth, seeing HMS Queen Elizabeth and other vessels.

Adam will now serve a 12-month tenure, with key responsibilities including attending several key Royal Navy/Royal Marines events, working alongside other cadets from the Sea Cadets and Volunteer Cadet Corps and being presented with a 1SL Cadet Board bade to add to his uniform.

Huge congratulations to Adam.
