On Sat 11 Feb, Year 6 pupil Lisa attended a prestigious event at the Queen’s Gallery at Buckingham Palace London.
Accompanied by her mother and her art teacher Catherine Foley, Lisa had been invited because her picture was one of the 12 winning designs for the National Jubilee Art Competition run by the London Grid for Learning (LGFL) and The Royal Collection Trust, last year.
The competition gave children an opportunity to create their own celebration to mark the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, in the form of an original art creation.
After an introduction to the LGFL and the background to the competition, all the winners were presented with a commemorative printed copy of their pictures mounted on card. Everyone was then invited to view the Art of Japan exhibition at the gallery, before being taken on a private guided tour of the Palace's State Rooms.
As the only party there, they enjoyed uninterrupted access to all the incredible art and architecture on view.
It was a truly wonderful afternoon, particularly for all the children who were made to feel extremely special. Very well done to Lisa.
