Churcher's Dinghy Racing Team chose perfect weather for their training weekend at Hayling Island Sailing Club on 22nd-23rd May. The coaching was led by Steve Cockerill of Rooster Sailing. On Tuesday 25 May year 6 were enthralled by a workshop on Shakespeare by well known local TV and stage actor Philip Bird. The first half of the workshop was a fascinating session on the historical and political context of Shakespeare's plays. Seven Churcher’s students from the lower sixth and fourth forms are preparing to enter the 2010 Round the Island yacht race on the 19th of June. They will be racing sixty three miles round the Isle of Wight with one and a half thousand other yachts. It promises to be a very busy day and an early start; we will be leaving school at 3.00am!
